Antidepressant Effects of Controlled-Release Formulation of Trazodone.

Abstract

This is 6 weeks single blind trial of trazodone controlled release formulation (Trazodone CR) on its antidepressant effects. The subjects were 36 patients with depression of both sexes. The dosage of trazodone CR was 75-200mg a day. The efficacy
was
measured by Hamilton Depression Scale. Clinical Global lmpression and a scale for hypnotic effects. Side effects were also evaluated. After 6 week treatment. Trazodone CR was found to have significant antidepressant effect and to improve the
quality of
sleep. The incidence and severity of side effects were a few and mild. Trazodone-CR was well botlerated by patients.
